Earth House / Glass House
From a buried garage, an underground tunnel leads up into a glass pavilion with uninterrupted 270 degree views of Okanagan Lake. An independent bedroom pavilion is wrapped in rusted steel and covered by a green roof. Several unconventional building systems are employed including a green roof, geothermal heating and cooling, custom fabricated rusted steel cladding panels, an exposed steel primary structure with structural insulated panels (SIP) roof , and high performance glazing with commercial aluminum frames.
